NIC Karachi, in collaboration with the US Consulate Karachi, Hosts Courtney Powell, COO of 500 Global, for Empowering Women in Business Talk

Karachi, Pakistan – 7th September 2023 – NIC Karachi, Pakistan’s largest tech incubator, had the distinct honor of welcoming Courtney Powell, the COO of 500 Global, along with the US Consulate Karachi, for an insightful discussion on “Empowering Women in Business: Financial Inclusion and Access to Resources.” This marked Courtney’s second visit to this thriving hub of innovation.

NIC Karachi is one of Pakistan’s eight National Incubation Centers (NICs), dedicated to providing invaluable knowledge and resources to its 299 incubated startups. These sessions are a vital part of NIC Karachi’s mission to equip its startup founders with global insights, enabling them to thrive in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship. Notably, this commitment has contributed to its startups raising over 8.1 Billion in investment.

Faizan Laghari, Project Director of NIC Karachi, emphasized the significance of such sessions, stating, “Our startups have generated almost 100,000 jobs, impacting countless households positively. These informative talks create collaborative opportunities for our startups, both locally and internationally.”

Courtney Powell, COO of 500 Global, shared her perspective on investing in Pakistani startups, saying, “500 Global has been investing in Pakistani startups since 2016, and we plan to continue and increase our investments in the thriving Pakistani startup ecosystem.”

The event exemplified NIC Karachi’s unwavering commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, enabling global connections, and empowering women in business. With such collaborative endeavors, the future holds immense promise for Pakistan’s startup landscape.
