NIC Karachi and U.S. Consulate General: Pioneering Conversations on Global Startup Scaling

Karachi, Pakistan – 23rd January 2024 – NIC Karachi, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Pakistan, welcomed a distinguished delegation featuring the esteemed U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Donald Blome, Consul General Mr. Conrad Tribble, and members of the U.S. Consulate General Karachi.

This exclusive visit gave us a unique opportunity to delve into the operational intricacies of Pakistan’s largest tech incubator and accelerator. Engaging conversations took place, shedding light on the innovative initiatives and strategies employed by NIC Karachi to foster the growth of the country’s startup ecosystem.

Mr. Donald Blome, the U.S. Ambassador, actively interacted with innovative startups across various verticals. Startups such as Irverde, Superwomen.pk , KMS Creatives, Asani.io, Gridizen, and Dicot Farms had the privilege to showcase their groundbreaking innovations and operational strategies, contributing valuable insights within their respective domains.

Amidst this enriching experience, a thought-provoking panel discussion unfolded, exploring U.S.-Pak ties and opportunities within Pakistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The esteemed panelists for the discussion, titled ‘Open Signals: A Conversation on Scaling Startups Beyond Borders,’ included Mr. Donald Blome, Mr. Conrad Tribble, Reaz Mehdi, Weldon Montgomery, and Qaseem Saeed from the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Pakistan. Additionally, the panel featured industry leaders such as Mr. Nauman Ansari from Pak Oman Investment Company Limited, Mr. Hashaam Sheikh from Insta World Inc., Faizan Laghari, Azfar Hussain, Misbah Naqvi, Zohair Saif, Khurram Schezad, Nida Tanzeel, Nida Athar, and Darakhshan Vohra.

In the words of Mr. Donald Blome, the United States Ambassador to Pakistan, “This visit and dialogue exemplify our commitment to collaborative innovation between our nations.”

Consul General Conrad Tribble expressed, “The vibrant spirit showcased today reflects the dynamism of Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, highlighting its potential on the global stage.”

Faizan Laghari, Project Director of NIC Karachi, underscored the value of U.S. Consulate visits and interactive discussions, noting, “These collaborative interactions provide our startups with invaluable exposure and open new doors to explore opportunities on a global scale.”

The National Incubation Center, Karachi, operated by LMKT and funded by Ignite, stands as Pakistan’s largest tech incubator, playing a pivotal role in empowering innovative entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, training, and access to funding. As one of eight National Incubation Centers (NICs) in the country, NIC Karachi has incubated numerous startups, generated employment opportunities, and raised substantial investments.
